Why church? – Part 5, Assembling?

by | Jun 30, 2020

Psalms 78:41

Look at the verse 25. It says,

not neglecting to meet together.

King james version translates this as

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,

Do not get me wrong. I am not speaking against assembling ourselves together.

I am asking, the fundamental question

What is assembling?

Matthew 18:20 English Standard Version (ESV)

20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

Jesus said that.

Even if two or three come together, HE is among them.

Lucky for us He did not say 100 or 200 come together. 🙂

Is there anything wrong in 100 or 200?

No, I have nothing against numbers.

Let us stick to the fundamental question. What is assembly?

Let us keep reading the verse 25… maybe we find the answer.

not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another,

but encouraging one another.

Do you remember from
1 Corinthians 14:26

Each of you shall have a hymn, instruction.

Now you see, that here each of you encourage one another.

I guess that is assembly. Not one person encouraging and other nodding their head on sunday.

If you have home groups, that is assembly. Even in home groups if one person puts a schedule and one talks and others listen. Then you are omiting the verse.

Each of you, each of you, have something to share, because you have done your homework. You have read the Bible.

Children, you are without excuse. People have given their lives as sacrifise, to get this Word of God into hands. Do not tell me, you do not have time to read.

Stop looking up to pastors and teachers. Open the Word of God. Let the Holy Spirit that Jesus promised guide you.

What did Jesus say?

Hebrews 13:5 English Standard Version (ESV)

5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

If He said He will never leave you or forsake you, what does it mean?

You are not alone. Jesus is ever present with you.

I do not profess to know all answers. Do not learn from me. I can not give you answers. Only He can. I can only help you ask questions.

All I ask is this, read your Bible and engage with HIM. Ask and you shall receive.

Do not look upto pastors or others. You have the greatest gift right in your hand. The love letter from God. Read it.

If you ask me where do I start?

Start with Mathew and read from there.

There is so much to share. and we shall.

My children, be blessed. Jesus is our only Teacher.

Amen
