What is sin? – part 4. What about rest?
Hebrews 4:11 New International Version (NIV)
11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
Strive with every effort to enter into this rest. The verse is saying, if you are not in rest, you are disobedient.
Not being in rest is sin?
Yes it is.
What is this rest then, how can i enter?
Is it a day in week? Is it a specific quiet place?
Nope….none of that.
What is it then?
Before even I start, the past week, I have been feeling unrest, my mind was drifting low. I always speak to my soul saying,
‘O my soul, rest in HIM’
But my mind was not resting.
In midst of it, I am writing about rest.
So what is this rest?
Children, here is the key to your victorious life.
Ok, we read verse 11. Now let us go back and What is sin?

Children, here in the key to your victorious life.
We read verse 11. Let us go back to read verse 10.
Hebrews 4:10 New International Version (NIV)
10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
If you entered the rest, your work ceases. Not any more of your work.
Just also God ceased from His work.
What is it referring to?
Genesis 2
Genesis 2:2 New International Version (NIV)
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.
Now, slow down.
Now answer, Genesis 2:2 says God rested on seventh day. Does it say, He began again the creation on 8th day after the rest?
Nope…
Read the verse,
It says
God had finished the work he had been doing
He completed it. He finished it. Done, ceased from work.
so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.
From all His work.
He didn’t rest on seventh day and began creating on 8th day.
Nope..the rest is not about a day. It is ceasing from your work.
What do you mean, ceasing from your work?
How can I cease from work? Should I not being doing, preaching the gospel, helping the poor, living holy?
No, no… Do not do any of it. Am I speaking heresy?
Verse 9
Hebrews 4:9-10 King James Version (KJV)
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
If you entered the rest, which you ought to… your cease from your work too.
Wait a minute, wait a minute. Hold on.
Does it mean, I do nothing?
Astounding yes in one sense and a no…
Is it confusing? Yes, it is to me as well.
Genesis 2:2, Hebrew 4:10 God ceased from His work on 7th day and I said God did not go back to work on 8th day.
So, did the creation stop on 7th day? Are not babies born this very moment?
Did the creation stop or did God rest?
Yes, the God did cease from creating, but He had creation working.
That is a meaty loaf to consume. I can cease from work and the work can go on.
How is that even possible?
Hold on to that question… shall we read it tomorrow.
Be blessed…
