Comparing among themselves? Big line or small line? 2 Corinthians 10:12
2 Corinthians 10:12
Amplified Bible, Classic Edition
12 Not that we [have the audacity to] venture to class or [even to] compare ourselves with some who exalt and furnish testimonials for themselves! However, when they measure themselves with themselves and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding and behave unwisely.
Yet we see this and do the unwise thing.
Why?
compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.
It is because it is soothing. By talking bad someone else, it makes me feel I am better than them.
Be it a believer or unbeliever, when I say bad about him and claim they do not know God like me. I am soothing my consciousness by making myself better. Not wise my friend.
Here is a quote that will liberate you.
“Small people talk about people.
Average people talk about events (curtain affairs)
Great people talk about ideas (bigger than themselves)”
A story I remember. A king put a challenge. He drew a line in court. And he said, “you should make the line small, but you can not erase the line or even touch the line”
All his ministers were bewildered. No one knew and they said king this can not be done. King was furious. Then at the moment the wise man walked in.
He took a piece of chalk and drew a bigger line next to the line that the king drew. And he said to the king, “king, the line you drew became small compared to the bigger one.”
The king kissed and rewarded him for he was wise.
Now the moral. A bigger line will become smaller compared to even bigger line. That being true, why do that? Why get into that game of race? Are you not wise?
But I will tell you about a line that you need to compare. When I stand before Jesus the author of my salvation. I see how big HE is. When I see HIS worthiness, my worthiness is filthy rags as Paul says. A dung. A nothing. I am nothing, yet that One thing loves this nothing. The meaning loves this meaningless being that I have a meaning written by the meaning.
I was nothing and the One appeared unto to me and wrote in me His Soirit, I have become HISthing.
He purchased me at a price. Why would I look at you or to my left or right. I look unto my author and finisher, the Alpha and Omega.
I give a damn about you. In a good sense:)
Be blessed children of God.
