What is ‘NOW’?
The Time space relationship.
God is eternal, meaning HE is even before the HE created time. HE is outside of Time and space.
The question is ‘what is now?’ If you are outside of time and space.
Imagine you are in Madurai(South Indian city, 400km south of Chennai city)
And imagine your home is in Chennai.(for some of you actually, yes:))
Now that you have come to Madurai, I ask you how far are you from home. You would answer approximately 500km.
Because you have a home, that acts a reference point. In relation to your home you are 500km south.
(GPS works the same way. It is the triangulation relative distance to the nearest 3 towers or satellites. )
Now imagine you meet a Nomad (vazhipokan), he has no home. You meet him in Madurai and ask him “how far you from home?” He would answer “I am home”, that is true, right then it is his home and he is going to sleep there in Madurai.
Next week you meet him in Trichy (a different city). You again ask him the same question, “how far you from home?” He would answer “this is home”. Because he has no home, every city, every place becomes his home. He has no reference point.
When God is everywhere, where is HIS home?🤔
Sorry, I am jumping ahead. Let’s stick to the Time space relationship.
Now we apply the same analogy to Time and see what happens. Use your imagination to follow.
Now go back in time, imagine 90s before the internet. We had television sets. We had Doordarsan (a government run channel in India, the only channel)
If I asked on a Friday 7:30 pm, “what is live on Tv?”, you would say “Oliyum Oliyum” and you would be accurate in saying it. The show was live every week same time as per schedule.
Now, switch back to now to the era of Netflix. Now I ask the same question on a Friday 7pm. “What is live on Netflix now this Friday 7:30 pm?”
You would answer, “everything, everything is live, you can choose what you want to watch”
With Netflix, there is no time reference. All is available all the time. It is your choice that makes what plays now. The ‘now’ becomes a choice with Netflix.
Same thing happens when you are outside of time.
If I ask you “what is yesterday?” You would answer, “it is a day before today”, so time is relational to now for someone inside the time.
For anyone outside of time, the ‘now’ becomes a choice, hence there is no reference point?
God is beyond Time, what is “now” to HIM? It is anything HE chooses to be. HE know the end from the beginning, yet HE chooses to be with you now.
I mean ‘now’. Will you choose?
For all the film junkies and Christoper Nolan fans. If you have to construct a visual outside of Time space. I do not agree or advocate theological concept of the movie. Man trying to play God has always and is the problem. Yet, Nolan tries to understand, out of curiocity and explores it. Love, transcends time and space, he says, wonder 🤔 where is the idea coming from ? Obvious.
