Part 3 – Who do you trust?
Remember, when we spoke on how to reach God, most of us spoke of being good, doing good.
What is the underlying fact under these statements?
If I live a good life and I pray I will be accepted by God.
So who do you trust in, believe in?
Yourself, because your being and your doing is going to make God accept you. So you trust in you and your action.
That is called, self-righteousness.
You are justified by your self, self actions. That is pride. It is so subtle.
So, you should ask two questions now.
Are we not supposed to try to be good and live good?
How then can you reach God?
We will get to the first question in part 5.
Now on the primarly question, How do you reach God?
பிறவிப் பெருங்கடல் நீந்துவர் நீந்தார் இறைவன் அடிசேரா தார்.
What does it mean?
Unless you surrender yourself, there is no hope.
Luke 18:9-14
9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’
13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Did you read the parable?
That is the requirement. A broken surrendered heart. God doesn’t need your actions. He doesn’t need anything. It is you, who need HIM.
Be blessed my children.
Amen
