Heart of wisdom
How many of you desire heart of wisdom?
All most everybody?
Where do we start? How can you gain the heart of wisdom?
Before we jump to the verse. I want you to listen to this song, just the begining lyrics of it.
The song looks and sounds depressingily sad.
The meaning of the lyrics is this,
If the changing temperal world, lives the humaity dreaming that this is permenant. How futile is this thinking, in it is no justice.
Sounds so melo dramatic.
What is the connection? What has this got to do with heart of wisdom?
One great rule, that will keep us safe. Anyone, i mean anyone, if he or she is saying anything, that has to be backed up with multiple verses from Bible. This is the test, we should always use.
Now, you shall ask me “Show me the verse”
Psalms 90:12 NIV
Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
to gain a heart of wisdom, God has to teach us to number our days.
We live in a temperal world, eternity is our permenant home. To keep the death date in front of you, seems depressing. But it is not. It is liberating. It is a freedom.
The temperal nature of this world is a blessing. Counting the days makes every day count. Every day is a blessing. A thankful day.
This shifts your mind from things of this world to things eternal.
2 corinthians 4:18
18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Because Paul was focused on eternal, he could say in Philipians, that to die is gain.
How many of us can say that, “to die is gain”? Was Paul a depressed man. No not at all, a happy camper. He is the one who said “Rejoice, again i say rejoice”
And yet would say “to die is gain”. Because his eyes were fixed on things eternal.
Philippians 1:21-26 NIV
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.
Keep your eyes on things eternal. Paul was eager to be with the Lord and yet everyday he was accomplishing, rejoicing. Desire then, “to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
We win either way in life and in death. What a day to rejoice. One more day to count, one more day to worship HIM, one more day to do HIS will. A day closer to God 🙂
Have a blessed day.
